Darrell Swift’s passion for great food and providing great customer service came to him at a young age. After graduating from high school in North Windham, Maine, he began training under the executive chef at Valles Steak House, a premier New England restaurant. He took that experience to other restaurants before landing a “sweet gig” with Sodexho, one of the country’s largest contract food management companies.
With Sodexho, Darrell worked in the Boston area at Reebok World Headquarters, The Museum of Science and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “I always wanted to work in senior living,” he says, “and Ashland Farm was my introduction into our business. I saw an ad in the paper in 2004 –remember when they did that? – and applied for the dining director position. It has been rewarding on many different levels and feels good coming to work every day.” When he’s not creating great meals and serving residents, Darrell loves attending church and singing gospel songs.
Married with three grown children, he’s grandfather to five granddaughters ranging in age from 6 months to 7 years. While he has lots of grandpa stories to tell, he still enjoys hearing the stories his residents share with him. And Darrell loves sharing the great food and great customer service that he’s been so passionate about since he was a young chef.
