Kevin Driscoll to Help Chelmsford Area Seniors Stay Connected to Memories at The Atrium at Drum Hill on Sept 8

Acclaimed Framingham ventriloquist, Kevin Driscoll, has performed with Jeff Dunham and Darci Lynn, the 12-year-old ventriloquist who won $1 million on TV's America's Got Talent, and now he's bringing his talent to The Atrium at Drum Hill, a Benchmark memory care community in North Chelmsford, Mass. To commemorate Grandparents Day on Sept. 8, 2019, at 2 p.m., the community will help those with Alzheimer's and dementia recall cherished memories of watching the likes of Lamb Chop and Edgar Bergen on The Ed Sullivan Show.

This event is being offered as an extension of The Atrium at Drum Hill's commitment to elevating human connection and keeping seniors connected to who and what matters most in their lives. "Our residents grew up watching ventriloquists on television, but, because of dementia, they may not remember. By helping them recall these cherished memories, we are keeping them connected to an important period in their lives and helping to improve their overall memory," says Hayley Bayen, program director for The Atrium at Drum Hill.

"I'm amazed how every single time I bring out my Charlie McCarthy replica puppet, seniors recognize him and call out his name," says Driscoll, who has performed throughout New England, including at Foxwoods, Gillette Stadium and the Boston Convention Center. He also has taught music for many years. "For me it doesn't get much better than being able to bring joy to seniors while combining three of my passions—music, ventriloquism and education."
