Wellington Bake-Off Featured on Local News

Dining staff compete for a chance to create a signature dessert.

A local ABC news team recently captured the action as dining services team members created special desserts for a bake-off competition at Wellington at Hershey’s Mill.

Dining associates competed for a chance to add their signature dessert to use for home and referral visits, tours and events. Throughout June, they presented the leadership team in the community with three choices per week, which was narrowed down to three based on taste, presentation, originality and production.

Residents determined the ultimate winning dessert – lemon-blueberry oatmeal cookies. Director of Dining Services Brian Sparks and Executive Chef Mark Scarpato of Sodexo, our dining service provider, baked the tasty treats.

“The lemon-blueberry oatmeal was by far the winner,” says Executive Director Douglas Buttner. “It is now called the Wellington Lemon-Berry Cookie.”

They look delicious!
