Benchmark at Rye to Sponsor Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 1

Benchmark at Rye, the Seacoast’s only community dedicated exclusively to caring for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, today announced they will be sponsoring the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Portsmouth on October 1.

In addition to sponsoring the Walk, the memory care assisted living community will, once again, host a Benchmark at Rye walking team with the intention of surpassing last year’s goal. The team will be spearheaded by Meghan Wentworth, CDP, the communities Mind & Memory Care Director and event chair for the Seacoast Walk for over three years.

The assisted living with memory care community is hosting monthly fundraising events that bring together residents and associates. Leading up to the big day, bake sales, raffles, parties and more are being offered.

Each fall, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts fundraising walks throughout the country with the goal of ending Alzheimer’s disease. The Portsmouth walk is the Seacoast’s only walk. In addition to raising awareness, the events raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Together, the Portsmouth teams hope to raise $242,000.

Rob Memmolo, Benchmark at Rye executive director and Barrington resident has been a longtime supporter of both the walks in central New Hampshire and the Seacoast. “We are thrilled and incredibly proud to be able to make this financial commitment to the Alzheimer’s Association. Every single day, Alzheimer’s is affecting our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents in increasing numbers. We see its effects daily as we care for Seacoast families impacted by this disease and feel it is important that we do our part to help,” said Memmolo.
