Lena Robinson, a 25-year caregiver at Chestnut Park at Cleveland Circle, a Benchmark assisted living and Mind and Mind & Memory Care community, is what every senior assisted living resident and family member hopes for. Her kindness and empathy are limitless, and she routinely goes out of her way to provide just the right assistance to her residents and fellow associates.

It’s Robinson’s dedication to the entire Chestnut Park community that recently earned her national recognition by senior living industry news leader, McKnight’s. Robinson was one of only six inspiring women in the entire country to receive McKnight’s inaugural Women of Distinction Spirit Award.

“Lena anticipates our residents’ needs and delivers quality care,” said Sylvia Clark, executive director of Chestnut Park. “She cares for them as she cares for everyone in her life—with compassion, understanding, dedication and love. She spends her days with the residents at Chestnut Park how she lives her life—with all her heart.”

Last year, at 75 years old, Robinson delayed retirement with her husband because she felt strongly she needed to be there for her residents during this challenging time. To many, this came as no surprise as Robinson’s life has demonstrated a true commitment to serving others.

As the daughter of a missionary, early in life, Robinson began caring for sick people and those who couldn’t leave their home. Later, she spent 30 years as a special education teacher for the Hamilton School in Cleveland Circle. In 1996, she joined Chestnut Park at Cleveland Circle and today is a Lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Medication Technician.

Chestnut Park at Cleveland Circle is one of five Newton area Benchmark Senior Living communities committed to providing quality independent assisted living and assisted living with memory care and experiences. In addition to spacious common areas like a comfortable library, private dining room and fitness center, residents also enjoy chef-prepared meals, transportation, concierge services and daily programs, such as intergenerational programs, seasonal celebrations and off-site trips.
