The skilled nursing units in two of Benchmark’s continuing care retirement communities, The Commons in Lincoln and Edgehill, were ranked among the top performing nursing homes in the country for 2018-2019 by U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 skilled nursing facilities/homes nationwide in every state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas.

Earlier this year, the skilled nursing units at The Commons in Lincoln and Edgehill were 2018 recipients of the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living.

“We are so proud of the hard work, dedication and professionalism of the staff at these continuing care retirement communities,” says Tom Grape, Benchmark chairman and CEO. “We understand the significant role that this recognition offers caregivers making critical health care decisions for their loved ones. We believe in the power of human connection to transform lives, and we strive to make a difference in every life we touch.”

The U.S. News Nursing Home Finder offers comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing and more for almost all nursing homes in the country. The rating evaluates the care of a wide range of resident conditions at the nursing home, including both long-term chronic care and shorter-term rehabilitation. For the 2018-2019 ratings, U.S. News introduced a new and first of its kind Short-Stay Rehabilitation rating that aims to provide patients with a clearer view of the quality of care provided by skilled nursing units/homes to short-stay patients in need of intensive rehabilitation or nursing services before they return home after a surgery, stroke, accident or illness. Both The Commons in Lincoln and Edgehill earned a High-Performing rating in Short-Stay Rehabilitation.

Short-Stay Rehabilitation is just one focus of the services at Edgehill and The Commons in Lincoln; others include independent living, assisted living and memory care.

“All of our Benchmark communities are held to high standards, and we are grateful that our communities are consistently recognized for their exceptional service,” says Grape.
