Benchmark Named a Best Workplace by Great Place to Work Institute for Second Straight Year

More Than 4,500 Associates Score Benchmark as Superior for On-the-Job Experience
in Anonymous Survey

Benchmark, a human connection company and leading provider of senior living services in the Northeast, today announced that Great Place to Work Institute has certified the company as a Great Place to Work for the second straight year. The certification process considered more than 4,500 anonymous associate surveys gathered from Benchmark’s home office and its nearly 60 senior care communities throughout the Northeast. The survey measured associate pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference and feeling that their work has special meaning.

“We are grateful for the hundreds of compassionate, caring associates who come to work each day at Benchmark,” says its founder, chairman and CEO, Tom Grape. “There is no limit to their dedication to the residents, families and fellow associates they connect with and serve. Because of them, Benchmark is known as a human connection company where relationships take precedence. Families write letters about how associates make their loved ones feel valued, and I fully believe that having such an important role in people’s lives provides associates with immense satisfaction about what they do. We are honored that Great Place to Work has recognized our efforts again to create an inclusive, high-trust work environment built on mutual respect. We are even more grateful for the quality of people who feel proud to be Benchmark associates.”

The Great Place to Work survey gauges workers’ perceptions in five areas – pride, respect, credibility, fairness and camaraderie – with employee engagement and culture being critical criteria. The level of trust felt toward company leaders, pride taken in their jobs and camaraderie experienced with co-workers are all taken into consideration.

Since its inception in 1997, Benchmark has earned a reputation as a top workplace across the region and nationally. In 2018, it was selected by FORTUNE magazine for its inaugural 2018 Best Workplaces for Aging Services list, taking the number 16 spot on the list of top 40 aging services companies and ranking number three among companies with more than 40 communities. Benchmark is one of only six companies named to The Boston Globe Top Places to Work list every year of the 11 years it has been published. It has also been recognized as a top workplace by the Boston Business Journal, Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant and Hartford Business Journal, and as one of the healthiest employers by Boston Business Journal, Hartford Business Journal and Providence Business News.
