Meadow Ridge (http://www.meadowridge.com), a Benchmark continuing care retirement community (CCRC), and Wound Care Specialists, LLC, Connecticut’s largest provider of post-acute and long-term care wound management services, today announced that Wound Care Specialists has awarded Ridge Crest at Meadow Ridge, the community’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation wing, with their Center of Distinction award.

Ridge Crest was evaluated and found to have superior wound healing care and patient results over the past year, including a less than 30-day average healing rate and staff dedicated to wound care, healing and ongoing evaluation. This includes a dedicated wound care nurse, a physical therapy and occupational therapy nurse who conducts rounds and a registered dietician.

“Deep, post-surgical wounds in older people are subject to high rates of infection, which can be very serious,” said Chris Barstein, campus executive director of Meadow Ridge. “Wound care is one of the many services our Ridge Crest team specializes in, and we are excited to have that dedication recognized by such a valued clinical partner and leader in the community.”

On June 30, Wound Care Specialists presented leaders, physicians and clinicians from Ridge Crest with the Center of Distinction award. Said Jonathan Brenes, COO of Wound Care Specialists, “We are honored to award Ridge Crest for their continued superiority in wound healing. Our partnership with Ridge Crest has demonstrated a long commitment to advancing the treatment, healing and prevention of acute and chronic wounds.”

For three years running, Ridge Crest has been selected as a U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home. In 2020, only 420 facilities, including Ridge Crest, received the top rating for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care.

Ridge Crest is part of a continuum of care offered on the Meadow Ridge campus. In addition to short and long-term care, Meadow Ridge residents also have access to independent living and assisted living. In 2022, the community’s new Mind & Memory Care for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia is expected to open. Meadow Ridge residents enjoy Lifecare, a predictable monthly rate for lifetime long-term care without worrying about rising healthcare costs.
