Allison Melahouris

Allison Melahouris spearheads the operations of Benchmark’s new developments, acquisitions and continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) as well as the design and implementation of the companies Mind & Memory approach for those with memory impairment.

Her many accomplishments at Benchmark include the successful transformation of The Commons in Lincoln in Lincoln, Mass., which Benchmark acquired in 2013, into a thriving, award-winning CCRC. In 2017, Allison worked to conceive and debut the companies new mid-market concept, The Branches, now with three locations in Massachusetts. In 2018, she successfully spearheaded the company’s expansion to New York with Whisper Woods of Smithtown, and again, in 2019, with Orchard Estate of Woodbury. In 2019, she also oversaw the successful design and opening of Adelaide of Newton Centre in Newton, Mass., the next generation of Benchmark’s Mind & Memory approach that’s bridging the art of meaningful relationships with the science of quality care and therapeutic experiences.

Before coming to Benchmark over a decade ago, Allison oversaw 70 communities for Sunrise Senior Living. While at Sunrise, Allison served in a variety of roles, most recently served as vice president of operations for 70 communities in the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic markets. She also served in a community leadership role for Queens of Peace Residence in Queens, New York, a skilled nursing, continuing care and assisted living community York managed by Little Sisters of the Poor, one of the oldest operating providers of congregate care for the elderly.

Originally from Queens, New York, Allison developed a passion for working with older people as a child while helping to care for her four grandparents and eventually started her career working in activities for her local skilled nursing facility.

Allison is Master’s-prepared in Healthcare Administration having studied at LIU Post and has a B.A. in Gerontology from Molloy College. She is a member of the Argentum Operations Roundtable. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, exercising, traveling and attending plays and concerts, and, more importantly, spending time with her young son and husband.
